Mateusz Gamrot Ready for UFC Chance of a Lifetime: "The Thought Gives Me Goosebumps"

At UFC 313, Justin Gaethje was supposed to face Dan Hooker. However, the New Zealander dropped out of the fight due to an injury. Mateusz Gamrot has announced his readiness to fight "Highlight". Polsat Sport journalist Paweł Wyrobek interviewed "Gamer", asking him about his current form and a possible replacement in the fight with the American.
On Tuesday afternoon, the media reported that Dan Hooker had withdrawn from the UFC 313 gala. The New Zealander's absence was reported by Australian MMA journalist Benny P. Among the potential replacements, the name of Mateusz Gamrot quickly appeared, emphasizing his readiness to fight.
- Everything is going very well. This is the most important year in my career, so I put everything on one card. I am training at full speed and I am ready for UFC. If the opportunity to jump into a fight appears, the organization knows that it can count on me. I am in training, in full condition and waiting for my chance - said "Gamer".

It is not yet known what the chances are of this fight happening. The ball is in Gaethje's court. It is still not certain whether the 36-year-old will accept a replacement in the form of another opponent or withdraw from the event.
- I made changes to my preparations - instead of focusing on the gym, I went straight to sparring. The whole process had to be sped up, so I contacted my manager to let the UFC know I was ready. I would gladly step in as a replacement in a fight with one of the top lightweights. Justin Gaethje is one of the most brutal and spectacular fighters - the thought of such a fight gives me shivers. At the same time, it's a huge dose of adrenaline, because facing someone like that is a challenge at the highest level. I got really excited about this fight, I shared it on social media. The case is open - the decision is up to the UFC, now I'm waiting for their move - emphasized the Pole.
The situation in the lightweight division is tense – most of the top fighters have already signed fights, which makes Gamrot (8th) the main candidate to replace Gaethje (3rd). The Pole referred to his controversial defeat to Dan Hooker at UFC 305, emphasizing that a fight with the American would be a chance to make up for it and prove his worth in the division's elite.
- I'm ready to jump on a "short notice". It's obvious that it's risky - entering the fight after a short camp against such a class opponent is a huge challenge. But in my situation there's no point in calculating - it's a perfect opportunity to prove that I deserve such a fight. What fate took from me in Australia, it could give back in Las Vegas - and I would break into the top of my category - said the 34-year-old.
Gamrot was helped in his fight for the chance of a lifetime by Polish fans, who massively supported him on social media, suggesting that UFC should get him as a replacement. "Gamer" thanked the fans for their commitment and assured them that he would not let them down if UFC gave him the opportunity to fight at UFC 313.
- We have already shown more than once that we can unite and act quickly when needed. This is a great moment to show our community and how much we can support each other. I greatly appreciate every person who supports me - all the energy that the fans generate is incredibly important to me - concluded Gamrot.
